Geology

Short characteristics of the site: Natural Reserve protecting a phonolite body which filled a maar crater. This crater was formed by freatomagmatic activity. The maar depression was later filled by a scoria dome. Phonolite extrusion took part in two stages. During the first one, volcanic explosion destroyed the first lava dome. The phonolite basement is formed of Cretaceous sediments. The locality is classified as Natural Reserve nad is situated in the Protected Landscate Area "Lužické hory - the Lusatian Mountains".
